About Friends of Avondale Park

Friends of Avondale Park is a nonprofit organization formed in 1988. We are dedicated to the restoration, maintenance, and full utilization of Avondale Park in Birmingham, Alabama.

Avondale Park is the physical and symbolic anchor of the community. Our volunteer organization is led by an 11-person board that cumulatively represents more than 100 years of personal connections to the park.

The Park’s 37 acres form a dedicated Birmingham municipal park maintained by the Parks & Recreation Department of the City of Birmingham.
